Sound familiar?

It’s 5pm. The school bag is still by the door. Your child insists they don’t have any homework. You know they do. Twenty minutes later you’re sitting at the kitchen table, tension rising, trying to explain fractions in a way that doesn’t end in tears — theirs or yours.
You are your child’s parent, not their teacher — and that’s a beautiful thing. But it does mean that switching into homework mode at home can be a struggle for everyone. After a full day at school, children’s brains are ready to relax, not refocus. Add in the noise of a busy household, siblings, screens, and the general chaos of family life, and it’s no wonder that homework can feel like the hardest part of the day.
It doesn’t have to be.

Homework Club

The Hayward Homeroom Homework Club runs every Tuesday and Friday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at Colehill Methodist Church Hall — a calm, welcoming space where children can settle in after school and get their homework done. Children work independently, with a qualified teacher on hand to answer questions and offer a helping hand whenever they get stuck. For children whose school homework is already complete, reading books and tailored worksheets are provided so that every child leaves the session feeling productive. Please note that as we are a book-based club, we are unable to support computer or online homework — so do bring printed tasks or your homework books along. It’s the perfect after-school routine for families who want homework out of the way and children set up for success.

Booking and Pricing

Sessions are £10 each and can be booked for Tuesdays, Fridays, or both — whatever works best for your family. The Homework Club runs during term time only.
To keep things simple, sessions are invoiced and paid per half term in advance. Once your child is enrolled, their place is secured and you will be invoiced automatically at the start of each new half term. Should you need to cancel your place, we simply ask for one month’s notice.

Getting There & Going Home
Colehill Methodist Church Hall is within safe walking distance from St Michael’s Middle school, with a crossing patrol on hand to help children cross the road safely. Once your child arrives, I will take a register at the start of each session — and if your child hasn’t arrived as expected, I will message you directly so you always have peace of mind.
If you have arranged for your child to walk home independently after the session, please note that my responsibility for your child ends when they leave the premises.
